DADA
An art movement of the 20th Century that challenged everything. The aim of this project was to design a book and typeface that exhibits Dada's sensibilities and beliefs.
Book Design
I designed my book as a conglomerate of typefaces, colours, images, and scrap materials. Creating an inherently unappealing aesthetic with an incoherent layout - reflecting Dada's rebel like nature and desire to shock.
Font Design
The aim of my typeface was to go against the structure of normal font design and create something completely unique. This reflects what Dada stands for - Everything is art.
Using splashes of paint on paper, I then extracted letter forms from the overlapping paint splats. This gave me a truly random outcome which is a technique used by the original Dada artists.
"The great masterpiece of DADA was the idea of having fun" - Marty Rubin
